Background

The fuel inlet restrictor is a necessary component in many vehicles. Sometimes, vehicle owners will tamper with this component by removing or modifying it. Inspecting for signs of tampering is relatively straight-forward. Not all vehicles are required to have this component. If a vehicle is required to have a fuel inlet restrictor, remove the fuel cap and look down the filler tube. If no inlet is present, or the inlet appears modified, tamper may have occurred.
