Various test modes are available on the Emissions Inspection menu, which are used to simulate different driving conditions. Here are some examples of
inspection modes.
1) Idle Speed Mode
Idle Speed Mode is used to simulate inspect released by the vehicle at idle. During this test, vehicle RPMs are to remain between 350 and
1,250. While using this mode, inspectors are required to look for visible signs of smoke and crankcase blowby. Only crankcase smoke will cause a failure, and smoke from engine oil leaks doesn’t count.
2) High Speed Mode
High Speed Mode is used to simulate actual driving conditions. During this part of the test, inspectors will keep vehicle RMPs between 2,200 and 2,800. During this part of the test, visible smoke from the tailpipe or crankcase will cause a failure. Signal interruption may cause the test to be
rejected.
